Description
Ceratina bees, or small carpenter bees, are important pollinators of crops and wild plants. These dark, shiny bees are not aggressive but can sting for defence. They live independently or in small colonies and nest in woody materials, usually in shaded environments. While not well-known, Ceratina bees are found in most districts and regions of East Africa and can be seen on flowering plants during peak blooming periods.
