Description
Ceropegias boast at least 420 known species, with new discoveries been made. These plants are widely distributed across sub-Saharan Africa, Madagascar, the Arabian Peninsula, Southeast Asia, the Canary Islands, the tropical Pacific, and Australia.
The distinctive flowers of Ceropegia are a marvel of nature, characterized by their tubular corolla with five petals fused at the tips. This fusion creates unique structures such as an umbrella-like canopy, cage, or appendage-like antennae, which are not just for show but play a crucial role in their pollination process. Pollination is primarily accomplished by flies, attracted to the flowers by their intricate design and scent.
