Description
The Little Bee-eater (Merops pusillus) is a small, colourful bird widespread across sub-Saharan Africa’s open woodlands and grasslands. With its bright green plumage, golden throat, and black eye stripe, it is often seen perched low, darting out to catch bees and other insects mid-air, removing their stings before eating. Unlike most bee-eaters, it nests in pairs or small groups, digging burrows in sandy ground. Agile and vibrant, it brings flashes of color and energy to the African landscape.
