Description
The Orange-breasted Sunbird (Anthobaphes violacea) is a striking endemic of South Africa’s fynbos, instantly recognisable by the male’s iridescent green head and vivid orange breast, contrasted with the female’s softer olive and grey tones. Closely tied to proteas, ericas, and other nectar-rich plants, this sunbird plays a vital role as a pollinator within the Cape Floristic Region, where its movements often mirror the flowering cycles of the landscape.
