Description
The White-fronted Bee-eater (Merops bullockoides) brings vibrant colour and energy to riverbanks and open woodlands. Its vivid green upperparts, chestnut throat, and clean white forehead make it one of the most striking members of the bee-eater family.
These highly social birds nest in colonies, digging burrows into sandy riverbanks. Within these communities, adults often assist in caring for chicks that are not their own — a rare and remarkable display of cooperation. Their flight is fast and direct, and they are often seen gliding or hovering together, moving with effortless coordination across open spaces.
