Description
The White-throated Bee-eater (Merops albicollis) is a migratory bird species found across sub-Saharan Africa. It feeds mainly on flying insects such as bees, wasps, and dragonflies, which it catches in mid-air. The species is highly social, often seen in flocks, and breeds by excavating tunnels in sandy banks where several pairs may nest close together.
